Get Rid of the Highlight

The Sims 4 has received a game update this evening that enables us to get rid of the hideous white highlight on sims and objects when you move your mouse over them!  To get rid of them permanently, you must update your game.  Next,  right click on the Sims 4 in your Origin library and select “Game Properties” from the list.  A window will pop up that allows you to enter Command Line Arguments.  In the text box type:

Then click Apply.

Alternatively, you can keep the highlight and just turn it off when you need to take screenshots or video.  (I cannot imagine anyone liking that highlight, but to each their own!)  You can use a cheat code to turn it off temporarily.  Open the cheat console by pressing CTRL Shift and C all together.  In the cheat box, type in “hovereffects on” to turn it on or “hovereffects off” to turn it off (without quotation marks of course).

  1. thanks for the info! 😀

    • You’re so welcome! I was concerned after I read it on the forum, the information became really hard to find again within minutes. I read about it, tested it, and came back to the forum and the details were already well buried under pages of posts 😛 This information is just too important to not shout it from the rooftops for all Simmers to hear 😛 LOL!
